Sure (and true) but without infrastructure you have nothing. His points to the first q in the q and a are spot on. Ten years ago no academies. No facilities. What will that yield in one generation. Way smarter and mire useful than project 2010.

Jeff this was a great piece. You really nailed the tradeoffs, the goals, the growing pains, best thing I’ve read about the week behind us thanks

split the LAs hahahah
November 14, 2025 at 11:14 PM
Agree. Bit of a wash? They gotta test the market before the new format and increased spend show results. Owners have to go all in now to get the payoff.
November 14, 2025 at 10:08 PM
But negotiating new deals before the new format and cap rules have taken hold and full effect
November 14, 2025 at 10:03 PM
MLS Not leaving any room to prove their theory of the case before needing a new deal owners better pour dollars on those rosters to bring in eyeballs asap.
November 14, 2025 at 9:14 PM
It’s super weird but keeping Canada together and keeping Cali together makes a ton of sense. But the travel.
November 14, 2025 at 8:53 PM
You really gonna split apart the north east corridor? Of course that would leave charlotte dangling in the wrong place. Dc is screwed but that ny dc rivalry is 30 years
November 14, 2025 at 8:51 PM
Attendance will dip during the transition, but better soccer fixes that and fixes the media value if the bet pays off. That requires $$spending on the roster.
November 14, 2025 at 5:08 PM
Owners already sank billions into this thing, the Apple deal didn’t land, and they’ve basically wasted the Messi jolt. Everyone knows the politics: some owners won’t want to spend, and nothing happens without a new CBA, so the next year and a half will be slow and messy.
November 14, 2025 at 5:06 PM
The calendar shift means better players, better loans, and no missing internationals. Yeah some weather will suck. I’m a believer but let’s be honest MLS is heading into a real stress test. The owners gotta spend big again hoping for a media pay day.

There’s some recent news that may require some more $$ :)
November 14, 2025 at 4:28 PM
Does it have indoor training ?
November 14, 2025 at 3:36 AM
It’s never one thing. But the 25 year track records despite missteps speaks for itself. Soccer was a wasteland before.
November 14, 2025 at 3:35 AM
maybe less if Montreal is forced to sell :D
November 14, 2025 at 2:03 AM
what changes tv ratings is on field quality, what changes on field quality is lining up the transfer window so we can sell for more and buy for less
