Quiet critter with resting mad-about-things face. Blacksmith, transman, animist, musical oaf, metaphysical rambler, writer 🪶🐾🏳️‍⚧️🌀🌲🌳
And both of these can in a way be distilled to a discomfort with there being choice and individual agency in the realm of sex and gender. Some people are terrified of being given the freedom AND responsibility to define their life

Yeah that is some nonsense, and even if it wasn't nonsense, it's inexcusable to say that we should disregard accessibility bc the people who need it aren't a large enough population to bother with. Garbage.

Ain't it funny that people prefer to vote for someone who stands for principles instead of trying to be an empty vessel for everyone else's

I will not be going into a women's restroom. Not in a box or with a fox or kicking and screaming and in handcuffs. I'll bite the throats of authority out first.

Also my feels as a transman that's been living my truth for most of my life and my entire adult life: I will not intrude on a woman's safe space. I am a man, and I will respect their sanctuary.

Yeah when I see the pics of trans men in women's spaces being like "this what you want?" my first thought is: this isn't a gotcha. The 'phobes are anticipating that and ready to fuck you up the moment you try to make that point.

I'm not saying that anything isn't as bad as y'all are talking about. It absolutely is. I'm just kinda marveling at the weird pocket I've found that's got me scratching my head like... what's happened here? Bc yeah with guys my own age it's been really hard to make friends

I've been surprised by how much they seem to like me despite the fact that I have held the line on not engaging in misogyny when it comes up and have taken several opportunities to push back when I could think of words they might listen to.

My more recent experiences as a trans man volunteering at a local museum with a bunch of 80ish white dudes in red county 'Merica has been really odd- I'm out online and with anyone who comes into my personal life, but with this group I'm kinda defacto stealth so far-

If they think your art isn't the right kind they should pick up their tools and make the art they want to see. I've been working on a grand simplification for myself and you're welcome to try it on and see if it helps: Let the only sin be abuse

Of course I'm reflecting on this today. MMIWG day. Bc the way our society has trained people to treat indigenous women and girls is exactly the same way we've trained people to treat the land. An empowered indigenous woman is one with her landscape, and the landscape exists in and through the woman.

By now our systems of land use have become so pervasively abusive that many people are afraid to look at that. On some level they know when they look to these bonds that should be healed they are going to find generations of atrocity and guilt.

My family was raised to think that you get brought into this world by God/your parents. End of story. Thank them, worship them, the end. What about the nourishment of the land? What about the ecosystem that sustained you?

You need freedom AND belonging to beings beyond and outside yourself. My recent ancestors took far too narrow a view of belonging. That repeated choice got us to the fallout happening all around us.
May 5, 2025 at 4:07 PM
More often I see people focus on personal freedom and the opportunity to be dominant after escaping a past of subjugation. It's important to be free, and it's important to throw off oppression. But there is MORE, and my forebears refused to look at their wounds.

Bonding to the land itself and letting it show you how to belong to it rarely if ever enters into it. We've had some good folks like Woody Guthrie who were clearly seeking to build a devotion to place...but that is outlier behavior.

Closet* idk what's going on but I swear I'll reread a post for typos and then one appears after posting. This only seems to happen to me on Bluesky. Making me question reality
