I had a Colecovision. Still do actually. Mum used to say “Oh, aren’t its graphics good” (like she even had a clue what game graphics were). Even back then in the 80s we eye-rolled and we knew these were not “good” graphics by the standards of any other visual media 😂

I can't necessarily generalise more broadly from that limited data, but I remain sceptical that people fleeing other nations heading for the UK are doing so because they have sufficient knowledge of our immigration and benefits system to know they can abuse it.

My sister used to ride in Burnham Beeches. She stumbled across a big film set-up. Burnham Beeches was stand-in for Nottingham Forest in Prince of Thieves. She heard there was some bloke in it called Kevin Costner. Didn’t know who he was so she didn’t go noseying further. She kicked herself after.

And since money laundering and criminal behaviour costs all of us money, basically it’s a good thing that such checks are in place, to try and catch it when it’s happening and recover the proceeds of crime where possible, or discourage it in the first place.

The relatives in politics check is for PEPs and Sanctions checks which the regulator requires. Politically Exposed People could a target for blackmail and bribery. So, if a politician rellie were blackmailed, say, the money might then be laundered through “gifts” or loans to family.

This is the attitude I always take when I drive. It’s now baked into the UK Highway Code as of Jan 2022 (if I remember correctly) - Hierarchy of Road Users - but you can tell from the drivers who don’t yield which are the ones who are not up-to-date with Highway Code changes (ie at least half).

It’s when it “corrects” the word you intended to one you didn’t intend, but completely ignores the one you accidentally mistyped that literally has no alternatives that it could be, that gets me.
