I’m here to read books and pet cats, and I’m all outta — actually, no, I have plenty of both. Excellent.

I also make software and opine about everything. I only get paid for one of those things, though.
So would my existing buttheads, as they made very clear when a cat possibly in need of rescue showed up, but I’m much bigger than they are, and I’m the only one of the three of us who can open cans, so I get to decide

Here is Kate, being an extremely pretty little cat

I guess it’s part of the answer to the age-old question

Here is a photo of my cats. Kate (the torbie cat) was tolerating Audrey (the black cat) for a little while. Audrey loves Kate more than anything, except maybe churu, and Kate very much does not return the sentiment. But sometimes it’s chilly and she’s sleepy, so she’ll let Audrey sneak in a cuddle.

When Kate is very happy, like when she’s sitting on blanket-covered human legs, her tongue sticks out and she drips cat drool. Bless her heart.

Does he have his own heating pad? Have you considered that perhaps his magnificent fluffy belly could be toastier? (this is not actual advice, just something I imagine a cat might say — you take superlatively good care of him)

My geriatric cat had his own heating pad for his last months, in 2022 🥲

Every time I go to the grocery store I’m glad I got into software engineering when I did

Also, we need an emoji like 🤑 except shocked and appalled — a sticker-shock emoji, if you will. This is the best I could come up with in emoji kitchen (perhaps Android users can do better)

If I make this face really hard: 🥺 can I know the enjoyable one? What if it’s my cat making that face?

I found a wee pink sparkly starfish in my dining room; I assume the cats are responsible for it being there, but I have no idea who's responsible for it being in my house at all

Was Kamala Harris the perfect candidate? Who knows — but she had more than proven, by election day, that she was smart as hell and entirely capable of evolving her positions on stuff. 2024 was a massive fumble, but I hope democrats learned something from it (lol)

You can tell that they’re an excellent rescue because they found Kate exactly the sucker she needed: me (it took her a full month of churu bribes to trust me enough to let me pet her)

I got the Nintendo Vans a few (uhhh, maybe more like 10) years ago — they should do stuff like that more often (also I wish I got the low tops)

You can get things lasered onto giant cups if you want. This is Dale.

A better result than I’d been getting. My oven is too hot (I set the temp lower than the recipe instructed, knowing this, but not enough) and I think my bread was a bit over-proofed because a meeting ran over, but this isn’t terrible! And it tastes good!

In googling about the privateer through whom I’m technically eligible for the DAR, I stumbled upon this interesting little narrative (I’m not descended from this guy but he was a cousin of an ancestor)

Better but still not good — the yeast was able to do its job this time, but the instructions I was following were flawed, so the gas pockets were not correctly distributed

Ok, I’m now confident that my mail-order starter simply wasn’t ready yet — it definitely wasn’t doing this until, like, today

Is this uhhhh not the crumb we’re looking for?

(It’s worse than I even imagined before starting to cut into it, lol)
