As I point out in this piece, 287g is wrongly described as a neutral "force multiplier," it's a way for the most racist sheriffs to be the most violent in service of xenophobia.

While bad, worse is the fact that this sheriff is helping ICE arrest people through their 287g program. (Some of these southern raids are not getting much attention.) The video shows deputies beating up a man on the side of the road.

I think it’s pretty good. I find it hard bc it’s so irrational, so racist and fearful, and so many erstwhile allies have fled for the hills. Turns out the “felon” discourse did signal something bad.

The radical Left has incubated an environment where political violence is not only justified but celebrated and praised. In July, nearly two dozen armed leftists connected to various Texas-based Antifa-like groups ambushed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement ("ICE") facility in Alvarado, Texas. On September 10, 2025, a leftist assassin connected to the radical transgender movement murdered Charlie Kirk because of Kirk's bold support for truth, love of country, and unshakable faith. Two weeks later, another deranged leftist opened fire at an ICE facility in Dallas.
President Donald Trump has officially designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization and instructed his administration to "utilize all applicable authorities to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle any and all illegal operations — especially those involving terrorist actions — conducted by Antifa." Building on President Trump's bold actions, Attorney General Paxton has instructed his office to initiate sweeping investigations into radical leftist organizations engaged in or providing support to those performing political violence.

I also struggle with the white noise effect. I feel very upset when I hear it, but then I start to question how seriously to take it. (Not to say I don't take things seriously, but somehow the casual violence of it is disorienting.)

I think (theorizing) that the guys in the field haven't been in urban areas or done policing so they are inexperienced (I mean, also, most cops don't know how to use their guns either.)

Most of the new people arent in the field afaik. It is true that the reduced the training to just a few weeks (online if you are transferring from another LEO). Unconfirmed sources suggest onboarding has been a shit show; 2/3 who got offers are being fired bc they fail the physical.
