My only argument is that no one has the stomach for the consequences of a protracted lockout, and a cap isn't a 2-month job.

The odds of these two entities agreeing to any significant financial restrictions or changes on a timeline that does NOT threaten the existence of the season? Infinitesimal.
They will kick the can down the road, slap one another on the back, and get back to cashing checks.

During the last lockout, negotiations began in February. So, a 2027 negotiations that end with a cap? Adios to all or most of the 2027 season. No one wants that.

I've read that there will most likely be small concessions and adjustments to the CBA, but no one has an interest in the drag-out fight it'd take to implement a salary cap.
