My dad machined (almost) all the wing spars in l-1011s, did some stuff for engine mounts, the flying tail, and was one of two people certified to do the couple dozen titanium bits on 'em. Due to Lockheed's part ownership of TWA I used to be able to fly free domestically. Still my fav aircraft.

Try explaining to someone that you aren't allowed to wear a hat at your job (hair net mandatory) but have to wear sunscreen indoors in the middle of Midwest winter. I guarantee the way they look at you will be worth a good laugh or three.

The one year I beat it was the year I spent most of my working day under 1600W (actual, not equivalent) of color-corrected full spectrum 5600K LED light. 100K lumens or something silly like that. I slept amazing too. And got sunburned on my bald spot (top center of my noggin)😅

Back in ye olde days of live journal I'd send an Internet hug, tack on some inspirational quote, and think I'd solved the world's problems. We're both older, wise-er, and a good bit more dinged and dented now. But you still get a warm hug, and a gentle reminder that you're dear to more than a few
