Hello fresh Blueskyers. I'm Jesse, I make all kinds of things from sculpture (physical and digital), pictures, comic books, and most recently a read-along storybook-and-record. Here are some pictures of that stuff, and of me, too. Welcome! What do you like to do?

I just want to hear him say "BATMAN" in the Bill the Butcher voice.

We had our characters, but also just stuff we made up, like Cardassian wedding rings (which fall apart if they're removed) , Academy slang like "Kirk was Kirk" (basically, "don't think you're a hotshot").

YES PLEASE.

A long, long time and many computers ago, my friends and I wrote up a bunch of ST OCs in the style of the Star Trek Encyclopedia, even emulating the in-universe and real-world alternating text. It was fun!

And you don't even LIKE the Marvel Universe!

Nobody ever comes in my shop asking when my grandma first appeared.

I want to read bios on all of them. Also, I love the idea that this couch is on the bridge in place of the more traditional command chairs.

You guys ever think about the Guy Davis album cover illustrated by Guy Davis.

OH! You know... That kind of smarmy superiority backed with an indomitable will isn't a bad template for a Starfleet Andorian.

Thanks! Think I was channeling a little Leader Dessler (aka Desslok).
Leader Dessler (Desslok in the US) from the anime SPACE CRUISER YAMATO: he's a blue man with blond hair in a military uniform and half-cape draped over his shoulders, his white-gloved hand on his hip. Behind him is a space battleship against and outer space background

So Lewis and Huxley’s alibis both check out.

Not quite the same thing, but CS Lewis and Aldous Huxley both died on November 22, 1963 -- the day JFK was assassinated. Lewis himself lost consciousness less than an hour before the gunshot in Dealey Plaza.

I seem to remember that about Dog Soldiers. Van Helsing I saw, but don’t remember the werewolf almost at all. Didn’t he turn into a kind of janky cg-werewolf?

All right, just turned in the last strips of my second year on FLASH GORDON. That's 730 installments in the bag -- appearing in a rough average of 1.5 panels per strip, I've drawn Flash about 1,095 times. Still takes me a couple tries to get his hair right. Tomorrow we start on year three ⚡
Flash Gordon and Prince Thun take on a squad of green-skinned Shark Men And old man looks up at a mural of Flash Gordon crossing swords with Ming the Merciless. Flash Gordon frees Edda from her locked helmet, and the mechanic can't help herself from laying a smooch on him. Flash Gordon negotiates with Empress Aura. "Tch. Fine," she sneers, conciliating. "Savior of the Universe..."

He smiles back. "You love it."

The acting CDC director has finally signed off on the vaccine advisory panel's recommendations for the COVID vaccines.

While the CDC is trying to sell this as a win for antivaxxers, in reality this means that COVID vaccines will be more accessible than they have been in recent weeks.
CDC Immunization Schedule Adopts Individual-Based Decision-Making for COVID-19 and Standalone Vaccination for Chickenpox in Toddlers

ATLANTA—October 6, 2025— The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) today updated its adult and child immunization schedules to apply individual-based decision-making to COVID-19 vaccination and recommend that toddlers receive protection from varicella (chickenpox) as a standalone immunization rather than in combination with measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination. The immunization schedules adopt recent recommendations by the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which were approved last week by Acting Director of the CDC and Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services Jim O’Neill. The schedules will be updated on CDC.gov by October 7, 2025.

I don’t know if I agree. I think they present a pretty uncaring (at best) world which individuals are powerless to change. I don’t feel like that depiction constitutes an endorsement of the status quo so much as an (admittedly cynical) “eh, what’re you gonna do?”

I see what you’re saying, but I also think the creators of a work having to clearly telegraph what they think is the correct moral opinion is a toll demanded by modern audiences. Neither politician is any good, one is the lesser of two evils and more expedient for our hero, who’s a cad himself.
