We took inspiration from visiting @cern.bsky.social data centre (hosted by Ricardo Rocha) - where we discussed infrastructure, open data, and machine learning - into a hybrid discussion w/ other datadevs on discoverability, interoperability, and #AI experience/prospects for coding/building #GGData.
jhollway.bsky.social
We discussed collection and use of #data on international actors, agreements, and instruments, common challenges and best practices, and the future evolution of our relationship with data as societies’ relationships to science and technology change and vary.

Pleasure working on this CRAN Task View with Fabio and @krivitsky.net, learning about the breadth+diversity of #SNA pkgs out there in R (+more to come no doubt)! We cover data manipulation, EDA, Group Detection, Modelling, and field-specific packages. Thanks to @zeileis.org and #CRAN for sharing.

I'll give a talk at the Geneva Graduate Institute @gvagrad.bsky.social on Thursday, 12 December.

"Are liberal orders self-defeating?" is the small question for the afternoon. If you are around, do consider joining the conversation! Looking forward to it!

New and updated data!! Both the website and package profit from better structured documentation!! And updated tutorials.. Check out manynet at stocnet.github.io/manynet/ and migraph at stocnet.github.io/migraph/, and install both using `install.packages("migraph")` in R
jhollway.bsky.social
Many improved functions: e.g. marks and measures infer networks when piped, to_named() adds names alphabetically, bind_ties() is more flexible with input, node_constraint() now works with weighted two-mode networks
Example of alphabetic to_named()
jhollway.bsky.social
Many new functions: e.g. read_cran() for package dependency networks, generate_configuration() and generate_man() for conditioned graphs, to_correlation() thanks @RonBreiger, and many functions for marking ties as in cyclical, transitive (below), Simmelian, or forbidden triads.
Example of marking transitive ties
jhollway.bsky.social
More concise: all network_*() functions are net_*(), autograph*() functions are now graph*(). Various function names are also renamed for consistency, e.g. node_in_*() indicates memberships (character vector) and node_by_*() to indicate motifs (numeric table).
Example of concise and clearer syntax and new Grey's Anatomy data
jhollway.bsky.social
Manynet is prettier!! Prettier graphs with automatic node sizing. Prettier updates with progress bars for longer algorithms, and more helpful error messages. Prettier logo(shown above!!) as part of stocnet, and a new color-blind safe colorway. There's even a prettier startup message! (check it out)
New manynet startup message(s)
jhollway.bsky.social
The biggest is probably migrating all network analysis measures, motifs, and memberships from {migraph} to {manynet}. This integrates functionality and makes it possible to download one R package for many network analytic needs. {migraph} continues for testing and MRQAP.
