Mine sometimes falls asleep with little trouble. And then sometimes he wakes up at 11pm, refuses to fall back asleep anywhere but on my chest/in my arms, and screams bloody murder when I finally hand him off to @rosscurrie.bsky.social so I can go to the bathroom an hour and a half later.

No encores. If he’s still not asleep mommy puts her AirPods in and listens to a book while baby (who is now almost 21 months) listens to his white noise machine until he falls asleep. We never could make sleep training work.

At bedtime, I always sing, in this order:
Lullaby in Blue
Dream a Little Dream
The Rainbow Connection
I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon
Molly Malone (it’s an outlier, I know)
Someone to Watch Over Me

If I’m really lucky, he falls asleep by the end.

Oh, I have cold-induced asthma, so it’s aggravated. 🙃

But usually it comes on after a virus. This one came out of nowhere. I just woke up last Saturday unable to even whisper. I can talk now, but no singing or voice acting.

6-8 games! Yeah, I’m shocked you don’t lose your voice on the regular.

It happens a few times a year. Hopefully it doesn’t last for four months, like the last time.

I sing that one to my son every night at bedtime. (Except for when I have laryngitis, like I do now.)

Honestly? It would be a very Paula Cole thing to do.
