A Hiplok d1000 at £200, laka insurance at £20-30 a month, backpedal’s recovery team for a tenner a month and I’m happy to leave it at central london stations for days on end. Cycle onto the platform at King’s Cross, chuck kids direct from bike seat onto train, lock bike on platform.

Why don’t they? No reliable second hand market?
jim.londoncentric.media
Without one I just couldn’t balance work/kids and would have given in and bought a car. The biggest challenge for mass take-up is everyone’s buying them through regressive Cycle to Work tax dodge. So a £5k bike costs 12 x £241 monthly payments if you’re high earner or 12 x £416 if you’re in poverty.

Electric cargo bikes can replace many everyday car trips for the average family and “reshape suburban family mobility”, say Oxford University researchers. 49 British households were loaned e-cargo bikes for school runs, shopping trips, family outings and other day-to-day use.

A few billion of VAT found that someone had missed, plus that £5bn of seized Bitcoin that had been stolen from impoverished Chinese factory workers, things are looking up for the British economy!

There goes my long held view that cash government receipts were accurate because you just had to add some columns in a bank account

Honestly re-read things so many times to avoid this happening…. But it’s a typo. Although an ironic one.

Some strange reseller fees within all that!

Yeah I had a very bad experience and then a very bad one! But the difference between cycling in the gutter around Manchester in 2008 and now is wild.

solid effort by Charlie Bibby lining up that photo.

Yeah the locks seem to be a weak spot. Also I just nearly went into the canal a couple of times. The signage is also crap. But having loads of big post war motorways gives you lots of space right. Dunno what happened to the designer on Deansgate they’re on crack.

Cycling around Manchester/Salford is just 100x better than it used to be, even if every so often the route just randomly dumps you on a pavement next to a motorway and goes “yeah this will do”. Their rental bikes are also better than the TfL options... when they work.

If any journalists need a “humorous drop intro” for Tory conference then there’s a train called Wolf Of Badenoch sat in a siding on the route to Manchester. Can’t quite imagine how you’d make it work but more has been done with much worse material.

Already encountering this! Was nominated for something I didn’t enter and had to explain there wasn’t some separate pot of money I could rinse to attend the gong ceremony.

To be fair it's important to get the Manning reference in for their audience, has a lot of salience in the US.
jim.londoncentric.media
What's really disappointing is not one news outlet seems to have published this, what has happened to low viral standards?
jim.londoncentric.media
GB News then had a vicar on to give reaction who, I'm pretty sure and happy to be corrected, wasn't Anglican? As someone who was raised going to CofE churches, I'm a bit confused by what people think the Anglican Church is?
jim.londoncentric.media
So interesting that GB News is sticking with female archbishop story longer than BBC/Sky, going through her tweets live on air, starting to cancel her for being woke.

They keep talking about the Christian public taking it badly, fits with the growing US-style religious vibe of the British right?

Is there some sort of big social-friendly reveal, what’s the release strategy?
