At the Morgan, Renoir’s portrait of Julie Manet, daughter of Berthe Morisot and Eugene Manet, brother of Edouard Manet. She became a painter herself and a rabid anti-Semite as were several of her artistic relatives’ peers. She died in Paris in 1966 at age 87.

“That Didn’t Last Too Long,” the first single from “The Lost Songs of Katy Shayne,” is available now on streaming services. You can pre-order the album from Amazon Music or Apple Music.

It's comprised of songs I wrote and attributed to Katy in my novel "A Song for Katy Shayne."

Amazing, huh?

From the Weir family:

“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Bobby Weir. He transitioned peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after courageously beating cancer as only Bobby could. Unfortunately, he succumbed to underlying lung issues.”

My "Third Finger, Left Hand" appears in the new issue of Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine.

A young woman refuses to return a ring given to her by the son of a wealthy New York family. When it's taken by force, her grandfather, an ex-cop battling cancer, calls in favors to grab the assailants.

Every day we’re reminded how vile, self-consumed and unfit for civil society Trump is. Only uncontrollable mental illness can excuse Trump’s rabid post.

OTD in 2011, "Narrows Gate" was ranked #1 in historical fiction (ahead of the new Stephen King), #2 in contemporary fiction (just behind Michael Connelly’s new one) and #4 overall in the Kindle Store. Amazing.

Patti Smith's "Horses" was released 50 years ago today. For the Wall Street Journal, I wrote about the album on its 30th anniversary.

"Yeah, it was mission accomplished, a culmination of all the stuff I was doing in the early '70s. I never dreamed I'd do another album." tinyurl.com/3bk4k2yc
