i was a linux guy for a long time when "computers" was my hobby, but it's no longer my hobby. i know an awful lot about how computers work, but my goal isn't to tinker with them, it's to use them to do other tasks

one of my coworkers is like 23 and grew up with a dad who introduced her to g&t and stuff like that, and another one of my coworkers is a few years younger than me and a huge 90s alternative fan, and now my 23 year old coworker is big into like oasis and soundgarden and like, slint, it fucking rules

there's another part to it where if you're under like 28 you've had access to basically all music as long as you've cared about it. i read about the velvet underground at 15 in a newspaper and it took me a couple months before i could get to a store where they had a greatest hits cd to check em out

when I was like 8 I got into the oldies station on the radio, and my dad joked about how all these songs were 20 years older than me. if you're 14 now that's loveless, nevermind, gish, ten, black album, low end theory, blue lines, fucking spiderland
