It is my firm belief that an event of mass violence should never be politicised in a functional country. The response from all politicians and commentators should be one of practicality, healing and above all, respect for the victims.

It's the perfect way of saying nothing at all. The hypothetical is too unspecific to communicate anything beyond the tidiness of its own allegory.

They all think they're Nikolai Tesla but they're actually a less impressive Thomas Edison.

*correction, not a guy, but writes like the stereotype of "guy who's sure he'll write the great American novel"

You can see them go in on Pynchonesque tangents and just lose the thread. Like maybe take a second look at the review because man is this not fit for publication. I wish writers would take the time to work out their language instead of brutalising it like this.

But they can't, no-one can write like he does - it's pointless to go up against him because line for line the man is a genuine genius, someone who has refined his craft in every aspect. This guy is just some reviewer on a lucky break, spouting vaguer and vaguer aphorisms in the face of irrelevance.

Seems that no critic wants to engage with the medium they're critiquing at anything beyond a surface level which... kind of defeats the point of criticism as an art.

Tangential but I read the review of anemone on Roger Ebert's website and it was bafflingly awful, more of a summary combined with vague put-downs of the film's pacing - I though we agreed pacing is the critique of hacks!

Clarifying, I do not advocate for violence against Ralph babet in any way. I was noting his rhetoric is more violent the extremest of acceptable sentiments for a parliamentarian. I think he should be expelled, that is a fairly extreme punishment in Australia. And I would like it to stay that way.

Ralph Babet should be suspended from parliament until he resigns for inciting political violence! He is advocating for the extrajudicial killings of civilians. He should be censured in parliament and frankly if the power still existed, not hung (as he would do to others) but expelled.

Exactly! If it were political violence, they would target someone important.

The fascism is already there! And don't say ICE is facing difficulty because they clearly aren't being impeded in any meaningful way.
