Green and moody day in the Snow Creek Uncas Preserve, near Discovery Bay. The log jams here slow down the water flow in places, creating nooks for salmon to rest during their travels. My salmon habitat boot camp is in full swing. #OlympicPeninsula

Yesterday was a clear day, if not looking up at least straight ahead. This is Mt Rainier from the entrance to Puget Sound, 100 miles away. The lonely volcano.

Can #salmon negotiate ladders? Turns out, yes! These pics were taken along the Deschutes River at Tumwater Falls in #Olympia, WA. The upstream pic shows a fish ladder, a channel whose water flow allows salmon to swim upstream w/o the stress of going straight up the falls. This whole park is groovy.
