Iʼve used this a couple ×, back when I lived in Canada – got a free 24‑case of canned iced tea once. There, itʼs called the Scanner Price Accuracy Code.

In Ontario, if an item scans‑in at a price different from its advertised one (even if itʼs a lower price), you get that item for free, up to $10. There are notices posted at registers behind the cashiers at some stores explaining that, but still most people donʼt know about it. …
