Animal research people:

Does anyone have experience switching from LabGuru to a different program for managing your animal colony? My lab is considering finding a different system for keeping our mice in order.

Reading scientific papers is a skill that requires practice. I’ve tried new AI bots that “summarize” or answer questions about papers. But, they fail to read/understand at the depth we expect from a graduate student/PhD. I’m worried that the current push for AI will decrease scientific literacy.

Your brain doesn't know what emails or deadlines or bills are. Those are very, very slow tigers. Tell it you've outrun the very very slow tigers (slow breathing, moving your body, etc) and it'll calm down.

Not 100% foolproof, but it definitely helps me!
The "slow breathing to convince your body that you are not actually in physical danger" thing actually kinda works, y'all.

So apparently we were the first team to escape any room in this place in two weeks, with 20min left on the clock. Great team work! Next time we’ll do the one with 25% escape rate since folks clearly need more challenging puzzles 🤪
