I similarly believe it’s unconstitutional under the “cruel and unusual clause”. To answer the question at a federal level, we must compare ourselves to other nations. We are highly unusual in being one of few that still executes people.

I’m only arguing about costs because it’s the singular part I disagreed with and it’s an argument I use frequently to convince fiscal conservatives that it’s bad.

I don’t believe the gov has the due right or authority to get retribution or to execute people.

Why wouldn’t they? The whole enterprise is more expensive because we have to keep them incarcerated.

If we remove the costs of incarceration, life without parole is free. You have to include it in both.

Where are you getting your data that life-without-parole is more expensive?
