I talk to my students about this on the first day, and use it to discuss why they are in college in the first place.

I have once again fulfilled my civic responsibility. Now to crawl back under covers and ignore the world for several hours.

I genuinely don’t know how I’m going to keep up-to-date on the nation and the world for my students this year. Watching the news is rather exhausting.

In a sea of frustrating information, I will celebrate the good news: today is my 28th anniversary of marrying the best person ever.

Caught up with a neighbor today. We'd wave but hadn't actually chatted in months. He asked how my graduate program was going & I said I'd graduated recently. He congratulated me. And I realized that I'm actually enthusiastic about trying out some of the things I learned in my classroom. #teachers

Another school year winds down. Somehow this year, my 20th in the same room, feels like it went by a lot quicker than previous years.

Whelp, guess I won't be looking at a new car for the next year or three. Good thing I just got the maintenance done on one of the older ones.

A friendly reminder, from a teacher:

Reward the behavior you want to see.

Even if it's not when you wanted it. Even if it's not as great as you were hoping for. Even if the person who's doing it metaphorically shat the bed before.

I’ve officially graduated and have received my MS in Curriculum and Instruction. So happy and appreciative of this.

It’s weird how we went from “government doesn’t create jobs of wealth” to “government isn’t profitable enough.”

One more project completed and accepted. I can see the end of the tunnel. Masters degree so close I can feel it.

So apparently the AP Human Geography site is culling some of its "daily videos" for class use. A teacher tells me the videos on redlining and white flight are gone. In the screenshot below, you can see the Daily Videos start with no. 2 (no. 1 on this page was redlining, and it's gone now).

We’re getting pretty close to Congressmen beating each other with canes in the congressional chambers again, aren’t we?

If we’re ending the flagrant waste of taxpayer dollars, does that include the constant golf weekend?

Given all the snow days we’ve had this year, my student teacher is definitely learning the value of being flexible with lesson planning.

I joined BlueSky. Shortly after, I have had several days of classes canceled for weather. Now I’m not a scientist, but I believe that this kind of cause-and-effect evidence proves that BlueSky controls the weather.
