I certainly didn't notice anything.

At least they took a still from the crap movie that completely ignores everything about the comic and pissed off the entire fan base.

They probably don't know the difference.

Kidding about years off my real life.

Not kidding about being passive-aggressive. I honestly don't think I can do it, but I keep trying anyway.

Sometimes I think the boss just gets sick and tired and dies just so I'll piss off and stop bothering him.

But it took years out of my (real) life and half my cash for the resurrections and ammo. *sigh* I'm not as young as I used to be.

But I respecked (re-specced? respeced?) my character and got better weapons that don't all use the same ammo pool.

I'm not a complete idiot. There are parts missing.

Get whiny and passive-aggressive and keep trying.
Again.
Again.
After about 10 or 15 deaths I finally fine-tune a combination of strats that optimizes my weapons and ammo and skills and baaaaaarely manages to take him down.

Well... damn, I guess it wasn't impossible for me after all.

Mark and I take on a boss, Mark has him dead in 30 seconds while I'm just trying to keep the scrubs off his back.

Later I solo the boss and get curb-stomped due to crap weapons, crap skill tree, crap ACTUAL skill and the reflexes of a sedentary 68yo. Also I keep running out of the good ammo.

Only a few thousand miles away. 😉

Nice little road trip followed by a quick swim across a pond... but with the Internet, we're practically neighbors.

Done! Also Darken.

PDFs because the bookshelf I no longer own doesn't have room.

Also, my shoes are IN the next room.

😮 Leaves need love too!

Oh yeah, and his 3.3v outputs are fine for our nominal 5v inputs, but I'm not sure how they'd fare through the diode drop. I'd have to check the specs.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

Also: shooting mice with a cannon.

In retrospect, one design would work for both my multiplexed diode-decoded BCD circuit and the 4051 multiplexers. AS LONG AS it's one of the current designs and, say, not one I've forgotten where maybe I reversed the diodes and drive high, pull low instead of the current way.

Or just use a switch.
December 3, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Or, you know, we could use a fucking switch. Wire it up, presto. Done.

So glad the five of us spent an hour deciding that. It's not like any of us had real work to do.
December 3, 2025 at 8:48 PM
At least there is +5v available on nearby connectors. If they're not being used for something else.

Alternatively, we could agree on an interface and add a new connector. But oops, there goes backwards compatibility. And also firmware changes, but I guess those would go along with the new board.
December 3, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Except on the Circuit Breaker board. There I'm running the switches through a pair of 4051 analog multiplexers that work as independent pulled-up inputs, I just read all of them in sequence and look for a 0 input. Common is ground.
December 3, 2025 at 8:48 PM
That requires he detect a low input on one pin before driving any other pins low so they don't interfere. Also requires adding power and ground pins. Oops, just lost backwards compatibility.

My circuit does NOT have a ground common, but it doesn't matter, because I also don't provide power.
December 3, 2025 at 8:48 PM
...explaining why his idea for a backwards-compatible interface would require his firmware to do more gymnastics than he ever thought. Not egregious, but more complex than he realized because he had no idea I was multiplexing two switches through a diode array to create a reverse BCD input.
December 3, 2025 at 8:48 PM
We just need a different switch to put into an existing panel, two for the twin-engines (the most common). So now one USB and (at most) one 12v power connection becomes 3 USB and (at most) one power. Also it requires calibration. We sat down in a conference call and I spent 20 minutes...
December 3, 2025 at 8:48 PM
There are a lot of worse reasons he could have chosen.
