Civil Rights, philosophy, anticapitalism, abolition. NLG forever.

Personal opinions and no legal advice. I think taking fascism seriously requires us to actively change. What we’ve been doing led to this.
“We condemn these war crimes in the strongest possible terms and are hopeful that the lives already lost - and those sure to be lost in the future - will give us ammo for the midterms. We will not be blowing that capital on impeachments”

Mamdani: protect your neighbors. People *have* been protecting their neighbors in courageous ways and the party has zero interest whatsoever in building on these organic rapid response groups to build an antifascist movement.

Also, NYC and Chicago police, you’re nominally in charge of them right? Do they do a good job of respecting fundamental rights? Are the cops just world apart from what ICE is doing such that we’ve never seen such abuses of power? It’s such a fucking cop out.

Thank you for clarifying. Also weak imo that a lot of people assume to be a fair judge in Chicago you have to do basically the same thing. Forget everything you know about CPD and defer to their expertise on achieving public safety.

I have no way of knowing what you mean, Alder

CPD’s de facto control of the City. Even before he won and gave CPD to Waller and Snelling, the repeated, emphatic disavowal of Defund was meant to preview that total deference. And so it really feels like a contractual condition of his being mayor.

“I’m not going to define the police, I’m going to invest in people” is the essence of it I think. Whether there was another way to win I don’t know, but he ran on the premise that reactionaries would be legitimately aggrieved if he defunded CPD, and they don’t need to worry about him messing with

Though it’s cherished by people who consider themselves liberal or maybe moderate, the belief that the 6 republican justices have absolute power to abrogate the Constitution and legalize anything is not liberal - it’s actually Schmittian decisionism with 6 judges instead of one fuhrer
