people always joke about "invert a binary tree" as a bad interview question

yesterday I learned that just means "flip left and right"

I always assumed it meant something like "grab a leaf node, 'pull' it to the top, let the other nodes 'fall', and calculate where they end up"

the reason I originally "learned" python ~20 years ago is that I was taking a "probability modeling" class whose assignments were in matlab, and the site license for matlab only allowed on-campus use, and I lived off-campus
It’s immoral and silly to force students to use vendor software for basic stats and econometrics. R and Python are both free with excellent LLM support.
100% agree. We switched all our econometrics courses to R and it works very well. It's free and the AI support for R is excellent, which is a big plus.

btw ~20 years ago I talked to a graduate program director (I won't say what college or program) who told me explicitly that their assumption was that all GRE scores from China were fake/cheated and that that factored into their admissions process

the whole internet loves bluesky app, the app that's just like twitter but with more joy and less toxicity. *5 seconds later*

Bluesky is now an open capital entity. All members are recommended to publish a notice like this. If you do not publish a statement at least once, you will be tacitly allowing the use of elements such as your photos as well as the information contained in your profile status updates.

Hugging Face put up a similar dataset (only 1 million rows), but they unfortunately removed it :(

This is an attempt to undo that injustice, and provide double the amount of data. The data gathering process is fully legal, as per the Bluesky Terms & Service.

I saw a conversation where someone was ranting about "Elmo" and I couldn't figure out what the hell they were talking about until I realized that that was their diminutive name for Elon Musk for some reason
you don’t have to call it “the other website”! it’s twitter! it’s x!

you don’t need to censor yourself here because none of the dominant algos will censor you

why this strange refusal to call things by their name
