…and to my great fortune, he thinks the movie I was playing was LEAN ON ME, the inspiring movie about the high school principal who saves a school full of troubled teens.

He told me he appreciated that I picked a movie like that, but that it was still Rated R and to tone it down next time.

Whew.

… and took my copy of the movie and said she was reporting me to the principal.

I then got a call from the office and was told to see the principal at the end of the day.

I thought I was gonna get shitcanned for sure, which sucked because I really needed that job.

Then I see the principal…

… a pair of teachers walked into the classroom, looking for one of my students.

And in terms of *WHEN* they came in, it could not have been a worst moment.

It was the leaches scene where all four boys are screaming profanities while pulling their clothes off.

A teacher hit eject on the player…

I played the movie and at first the kids were all cracking wise, ignoring the movie, etc.

But like clockwork, it very suddenly took hold of them and pulled them. They actually got mad when they had to leave class before the movie ended. It felt great, honestly.

I did this for three periods, until…

Usually this meant classrooms of middle and high school students would get served up the first 40-50 minutes of ROCKY III — mainly because it was the movie I happened to find in my car one day and just left it there.

Then one day, I managed to grab STAND BY ME before heading to a new classroom.

He graduated from Duke, which makes him perhaps the greatest malignancy to emerge from my state’s universities?

The second greatest might be an ECU grad who made a career in wrasslin’.

This show might rank high as a media depiction of Judaism in the 90s? I always felt that way as an outsider.

90s/00s Nick was kinda wild in terms of diving into topics rarely explored in TV for adults.

Splitting the movie in two might have made more money, but it cost Uma her Oscar nomination.

Why bash Matthew Lillard?!?

It’s like that time that one journalist snarked Martin Short, as if it he had some Ryan Reynolds cultural omnipresence.

The Hollywood machine is not exactly forcing Lillard down our throats. Very easy to just avoid his work if you don’t like him.

I think splitting it into two had its merits -- definitely in terms of box office.

But after watching it as a whole, I think the split cost Uma an Oscar nomination.

The big reunion during the final showdown really hit me with an emotional wallop the movies lacked as two separate parts.
