I asked Hamilton Mountain MPP Monica Cirello her position on speed camera.

She stated the Premier's position is known.

Asked to clarify her position:

"The Premier's been clear about what we're going to do with speed cameras. I have no other comment."

And the final question is what changes are expected in the next six months.

Mayor Horwath says there will be much change at City Hall in how the City does things, and services. #yhmcc

'Fireside chat' is between Greg Dunnett, Chamber President and CEO, and Mayor Andrea Horwath.

The Chamber no longer does open mic questions, due to past hijacking. #yhmcc

The speech ended a few minutes ago. The various sponsors of the breakfast are providing their remarks... 'fireside chat' will begin shortly. #yhmcc

There are significant issues with City of Hamilton real-time transit data today.

Many buses are not reporting data at present. (right now, there are no eastbound 1-King buses reporting data between Downtown and Eastgate)

Mayor Horwath now speaking about her "Hold the Line" budget directive 'with a maximum tax increase target of 4.25%'

It is a brief part of the speech. I expect we'll hear more during the 'fireside chat' which follows the prepared address. #yhmcc

Mayor Horwath thanks Hamilton's Members of Provincial Parliament for 'always keeping Hamilton's interest front and centre'

This draws room-wide applause. #yhmcc

The Mayor's speech includes pauses for applause. The applause begin over at the City staff tables, spread across the room, but there is little enthusanism among the private-sector tables that are on the other side of the room. #yhmcc

Mayor Horwath says Hamilton is "bucking the trend" on new housing builds.

Citing Hamilton good year as measured by building permit value.

This is correct - Hamilton is having an record year measured by value (even inflation adjusted) thepublicrecord.ca/2025/06/hami...

The thing with road safety is that "getting under people's craws" is neither here nor there. Speed limits are there for safety and should be followed. This is not complicated

Burnside's point is that maybe the 40 km/h speed limit on Avenue Rd and other streets is too low. Getting a ticket for "going 50 or 51 on Avenue Road that's six lanes wide, seems to be the kind of thing that would get under people's craws," he says.

Gray points out there are schools on Avenue Road.

Last moment change

Before Council votes between Brad Clark and Mike Spadafora to decide which one will be appointed to the Police Board to replace Mayor Horwath, Council is divided on a motion to have the candidates deliver speeches.

After debate, the debate is ruled out of order. #yhmcc
