#RésultatScientifique 🌊 Prédateur ou partenaire ?
Une nouvelle étude révèle que certains planctons marins avalent leurs proies … mais sans les digérer. Résultat : une étrange alliance, entre prédation et symbiose.

Despite 150+ years of Radiolaria diversity research, we have just scratched the surface. Nearly half of Radiolaria diversity might be naked hiding in plain sight! We unveiled the diversity and evolution of Radiolaria beyond "the stars of the ocean"

Happy to share our last study led by @akrao.bsky.social published in @currentbiology.bsky.social, showing how a planktonic host steals and hijacks chloroplast and mitochondrion of a microalga using 3D subcellular imaging. Funded by @moorefound.bsky.social; @erc.europa.eu

Endosymbiosis remodels transporter expression in Phaeocystis algae. Beautiful work from the @johandecelle.bsky.social lab. It would be amazing to know whether the patterns in diurnal transporter expression also change the directionality of transport. 🧫🦠

This really is an excellent paper. It shows that plastid protein import machinery can be inherited through serial transfer, and that we should not expect additional membranes in tertiary plastids. In other words, serial transfers got easier to explain
