#OTD in 1876 Marie Victoire Lebour was born. Marie Lebour was based @thembauk.bsky.social for much of her caeer, which primarily focused on planktonic larvae and other microplantkon. We are privileged to have her personal library and research material in the library and archive.

Excited to share the lab's 1rst preprint! Rapid high-res immunofluorescence is now possible in cultured & environmental diatoms thanks to 4-fold expansion microscopy. A step-change for comparative cell biology in one of the most important phytoplankton groups on the planet 🥳

Today was a perfectly colorful day 🌈—on the way to sample coccolithophores, we stumbled upon a pink lake. Under the scope, I found green algae and diatoms in a “forest” of pink! 💗💚🔬

Yet again we are seeing "unprecedented" marine heatwaves in 2025.

What will we see in 2025 & beyond? @dansmale1.bsky.social comments, “If this continues through the summer we would expect to see widespread biological impacts. This is a significant warming event."
