This first class cabin that seats up to nine passengers is completely empty outside of me traveling in it from Jakarta to Bandung. With a top speed of 350km/h you’ll reach Bandung – well at least somewhere close – in about 30 minutes.

Cars that were stuck in front of the destroyed Romaniv Bridge in Irpin, along the main road to Kyiv are now stacked onto a parking area and have turned into yet another place of remembrance of the cruelty of war, inflicted by Russia.

Checkpoint Giraffe was a Ukrainian military checkpoint in the town of Irpin, Kyiv Oblast. It was part of the first real defensive line put up to stop the Russian invasion from Belarus in February 2022. The defensive line was successful; the Russians were stopped but the cost for Ukraine was high.

My guide showing me a video of newly liberated Bucha, Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine where the Russians left a destroyed town with bodies of residents in the streets. This was only the very surface, many more clear war crimes would be uncovered in the days and weeks after this video was made by a local.

I can fly to Erbil, Iraq from my hometown airport for only 151 euro return trip.... it's just that I've planned to go to Moldova and Odesa already otherwise I would probably just book it. 😅

Hmm.. That overland trip from Bangkok to Cambodia (to get to Angkor Wat) might be more difficult than it was before. The Netherlands has updated their travel advice to red for both sides of the entire Thai-Cambodia border now.

The statue of Ukrainian poet, writer and national figure Taras Shevchenko in the town of Borodyansk, Kyiv Oblast was hit by shrapnel early on in the full-scale invasion by Russia that started in 2022. The head is now facing down, but just as Ukraine, Taras hasn't given up!

It’s okay, everyone does it! As we are waiting for train number three - yes it’s really busy on the main rail corridor, but at least I have the fuckin’ patience to wait a few minutes – we can see more and more motorcyclists jump in front of the queue by going under the gate.
