34 years ago today the world began its spiral into out of control capitalism, just saying.
Today is the anniversary of the collapse of the Soviet Union. Let’s hope history repeats itself with its successor.

So very sorry to hear of Chris Rea's passing. A fine artist & genuinely big-hearted human being. We first met in 1974 when he and my first band were managed by Teesside legend John McCoy. By 1994 Chris was an international star but played on my album Love Over Rage as a favour for a penniless mate.

Just learned of the passing of Chris Rea. Really loved the guy. A very special talent. Got pretty much everything he released and talked extensively about his work (especially when I was on X). One album I forgot is Auberge, released in 1991. Superb record. Still a great listen. RIP.

the few songs written by Chris Rea that i am familiar with are beautifully constructed pieces of work, and his voice gave inspiration to people like me who were never going to be Otis Redding. but beyond that, every time i saw the man interviewed he was completely charming, engaging and modest #RIP

Brilliant news for those who give a sh*t about animals!
Say what you want about this Labour govt, but they are introducing "the biggest animal welfare reforms in a generation". The tories did virtually nothing for 14 yrs for animals.

Been an interesting voyage down music memory lane with this Festive 50. Last time I did this was 3 years ago on the other place. I dare say it'll be a while again before I attempt it, no doubt it will be different once more. Just a selection of 50 albums from over a 1000 I've played previously.

I'm fascinated by the fact that in the US, only a change of government can institute legal process, that the current state of criminal justice in the USA is such that it doesn't have the power to implement the law regardless of who is in the office of POTUS. Whatever happened to Right or Wrong?
I do not envy the next Democratic president. The task of bringing all these criminals to justice while trying to piece back together the very foundations of our government and institutions will be daunting.
