A happy “Thanksgivin’” from Hoagy!
"Thanksgiving", by Hoagy Carmichael’s orchestra with vocalist Dick Robertson, recorded September 1, 1932.

As Will Friedwald notes, "the first bird that Hoagy and Johnny Mercer wrote about together wasn't a skylark but rather, a turkey."

In 1935, surrealist artist/filmmaker Joseph Cornell became obsessed with Rose after buying a print of East of Borneo in a junk shop. He then created a 19-minute silent short dreamscape of spliced scenes of Rose filtered through blue glass and named it Rose Hobart (1936).
