Great article.

It has always struck me as odd that a lot of staunch monarchists will say "I wouldn't want to do their job" while being, apparently, quite OK with making them do that job.

But your point about the kids, who aren't able to consent, is that times 1000.

Why would anyone *hate* Starmer?

I can understand people being disappointed, or annoyed, or even irritated, but it doesn't seem to me that he's done enough to warrant hate.

Let alone competitive hate

There are always Trumps.

And so that is why the United States constitution has checks and balances for the misuse of presidential power.

The real story of Trump’s presidency is not only what he has done, but also what Congress and the Supreme Court have not done.

Isn't do the end of line 3 in his version - next line starts with unbribed.

That leaves all the lines the same length (8 syllables)

For some reason, this sprung to mind:

You cannot hope to bribe or twist (thank God!) the British journalist.
But, seeing what the man will do unbribed, there's no occasion to.

The question of bail is for the courts, not for the government.

Having governments wading into court decisions in individual cases is not compatible with the rule of law.

I'm sure you critisice Trump when he wades into court matters and tried to influence judges.

So let's be consistent.

More to the point, the government shouldn't interfere with the court process.

The question of bail is for the courts, not for the government.

Having governments wading into court decisions in individual caes is not compatible with the rule of law and people asking them to do it should stop.

They were about antisemitism though.

Even if they were amplified by people who didn't really care about Jews, they began as a genuine reaction by people who were subject to racism from him.

And rather than even try to understand or apologise, he dismissed it as smears by lying Jews
