We got slammed with 14 inches of snow! Two teenagers knocked on my door... heads down and softly asked if they could shovel for me. I said.... it's a lot to do... but I also told them I had a big snowblower and just haven't gotten around to firing it up yet. I saw the defeat in their faces... so I said "how much" One spoke quickly and said $40. I said "for my driveway and a tiny walkway? I'll give you $30." No hesitation... straight to work. They were at it for almost an hour! When they finished, I handed them a 50. The look on their faces said everything... one said wha? really? I simply said with a smile.. keep hustlin'... they walked way high fiving each other. Here's the thing. I don't currently have a job. My savings are almost gone. This layoff is going on MUCH longer than I ever thought it would. I probably needed that $50 for something practical. But I know the standard I hold for myself. Be the person you needed!! That mantra doesn't change... If you're in need of creative leadership let's talk, I show up the same way those two fellas did... And I'll deliver more than you expect.
