ive been loving this story and also finding it extremely unsurprising. shackleton was always broke as a joke and willing to cut corners and also a virile hero, so all elements of the escapade make perfect sense

The Sea Cloud continues to sail as a passenger ship in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. I booked my voyage aboard her through National Geographic which conducted the trip in coordination with Lindblad Expeditions.
