Scottish Highlander, left-coast, interested in all sorts of things. I make stuff, some of it even works.
It's been a long time since I was on the hill in such amazing conditions as we had last week. Blue skies and powder snow to my knees in places. Quite spectacular. As my son said "On a good day Scottish skiing is the best in the world, on a bad day, it's the worst in the world". Hard to argue!

Winter in the Scottish Highlands has many hidden dangers, which we learn about as children. When its biting cold, we're warned, we'd best keep our wits about us...

Not sure I've ever seen such bloody enormous snowflakes as came down this afternoon. Most were big but some were just huge, and they were just piling in. Really quite impressive!

You'll all be pleased learn that the yin/yang thing is all in harmony in the Highlands.

Had a Christmas visit to family in England, "I would walk 500 hundred miles" except we drove that distance listening to The Proclaimers rather than emulating them (& same again back) and had a wander into the quaint scenery and unfamiliarity of these remote and distant lands.

I've got an idea...why don't we let Fujitsu design a missile system to protect Ukraine, and call it the Horizon system, after all it has proved the perfect 'counter terror' weapon at nearly every Post Office counter in the UK...

"Why have Ai Weewee that is pish when you can have Ai Weiwei who is wonderful." is my final thought....

This is really ephemeral stuff and can last for only a short while, sometimes only minutes before it's gone. But whilst its there...well...its a good reason to get out and poke around whatever the weather... 2/2

Nature's Christmas Decorations

In the woods behind the house. Snow falls on all the trees. Then it thaws slightly, before refreezing (thus consolidating the snowfall). Then it thaws again & slight breeze 'shifts' the tree branches and the consolidated snow 'drapes' off like decorations! 1/2

The Calligraphy of Nature

The story the wind wrote on the snow-covered woodland floor for us to read after the gale.

Late summer, rosebay willowherb seed heads blizzarding off in the breeze starkly contrasted against the the shade of leaf-full woodland along the field edge. 4/4
