It was excellent to visit @westsussexfire.bsky.social last Friday!

Thank you to Ian James, Matthew Gamblen and the team for showing me their outstanding, state-of-the-art facilities. The service has rightly earned Centre of Excellence status and is now a model for other counties.

✍️ I've joined colleagues in writing to the Health Secretary on the government's decision to abolish Healthwatch.

We're want to reverse this decision and guarantee ring-fenced funding for independent patient advocacy. Cost-cutting mustn't come at the expense of patient safety.

🏫 I recently had the pleasure of visiting Collyer's, where I met with Principal Dan Lodge and held a Q&A session with politics students.

Always energising to meet young people engaging seriously with politics and thinking critically about the challenges facing our constituency.

These delays aren't just frustrating; they can prevent people from getting to work, accessing education, and living independently.

I recently met with Cheryl from Chezzim Driving School to discuss the serious problems facing learner drivers locally.

We spoke about test delays, examiner shortages, and bots and private resellers snapping up test slots for profit.

🚗 Have you struggled to book a driving test in West Sussex?

Whether you have already completed your driving test or are waiting for one, I would like to know any challenges you've faced.

Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas’s evil terrorist attack on Israel.

We stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.
“Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas’s evil terrorist attack on Israel. 1,200 innocent people brutally slain, including hundreds of young people at a music festival. Others raped, sexually assaulted and mutilated. 251 people taken hostage, ripped away from their families.
“Those terror attacks also triggered a shocking rise in antisemitism here in the UK – a terrible scourge that took the lives of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz at their synagogue last week.
“We stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.
“This cycle of violence has gone on for far too long, caused far too much suffering and claimed far too many innocent lives.
“With new peace talks under way, we desperately hope that they will finally see the hostages returned home to their families, a lasting bilateral ceasefire, Hamas out of power in Gaza for good." Ed Davey

The school is making excellent use of their space - creating calm areas for students alongside their well-invested library at the heart of the school.

Fantastic to see the Colgate community stepping up with sponsorship and hands-on support to create outdoor play and sensory areas.

🏫 Great to visit Colgate Primary School recently to meet with Headteacher Rebecca Winn and Chair of Governors Amelia Calvert.

We discussed the particular challenges facing smaller village schools and their response to growing SEND provision needs.

After both this attack and last week's attack on the synagogue in Manchester, we must make absolutely clear: there is no place for hatred or violence towards any community in our society.

I am appalled by the arson attack on a local mosque in East Sussex, which police are treating as a hate crime. My thoughts are with the Muslim community at this difficult time.

However, significant questions remain about what the post-merger IVF offering will actually be and when policies will harmonise.

I will continue to press both ICBs for clarity and advocate for the highest possible standard of care for families in Horsham.
johnmilnehorsham.bsky.social
💬 NHS Surrey Heartlands currently maintain different provision and won't review their policy until NICE updates its guidance later this year.

Both ICBs are working on regional alignment across the South East to address the variation in treatment.
johnmilnehorsham.bsky.social
💬 NHS Sussex confirmed that since July 2025, new patients are only eligible for one IVF cycle instead of three, due to financial pressures. However, people already on the pathway will continue to receive up to three cycles.

I recently wrote to both NHS Sussex and NHS Surrey Heartlands ICBs about NHS-funded fertility treatment following their planned merger. You can read their responses below in full.

At a time when divisions are being stoked and weaponised, we as Liberal Democrats stand against this, calling for unity and a country where every community can feel safe.

I am horrified by the attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester.

My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the wider Jewish community.

There can be no place for any form of violent hatred or discrimination in our society.

🏃‍♂️What a fantastic turnout at Run Barns Green over the weekend!

I was honoured to start the race and see so many people supporting St Catherine's Hospice.

For those who are able to attend, this school will make a real difference.

Every child deserves an education that meets their needs, and I will continue pushing for fundamental reform to our SEND system.

Wishing all the staff, students and families the very best!

🏫 Delighted to officially open Aurora Vincent House School in Horsham yesterday - a wonderful new specialist school for SEND children from across West Sussex.

This represents the kind of specialist provision we desperately need more of.
