Photo of Ed Davey with the text of a quote: "At a time of such instability and uncertainty, it is our values that must prevail.
Decency. Compassion. Community. Respect for the rule of law. Values that have always been at the heart of our party.
Our party celebrates Britain’s diversity as a great strength.
Our party knows that our country thrives when it is open and outward-looking."

Good morning Conservative conference... Can't stand to be a Kemi Conservative any more?

Join us.
A digital billboard mounted on a truck parked on a city street displays a political advertisement from the Liberal Democrats. The sign reads: “CAN’T STAND TO BE A KEMI CONSERVATIVE?” and includes excerpts from The Telegraph and The Guardian about Tory policies and internal disputes. The message at the bottom says, “Join us: LibDems.org.uk/join.”

There are people right across our country, who have voted Conservative all their lives, but are now switching to the Liberal Democrats.
YouGov Poll - Liberal Democrats draw level with the Conservatives - both parties on 17%.

People like Robert Jenrick and Nigel Farage are increasingly looking at people who are not white and suggesting that they can't be British.

That in itself is fundamentally un-British.

The Conservative Party once believed in the rule of law and our shared British values - no longer.

Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas’s evil terrorist attack on Israel.

We stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.
“Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas’s evil terrorist attack on Israel. 1,200 innocent people brutally slain, including hundreds of young people at a music festival. Others raped, sexually assaulted and mutilated. 251 people taken hostage, ripped away from their families.
“Those terror attacks also triggered a shocking rise in antisemitism here in the UK – a terrible scourge that took the lives of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz at their synagogue last week.
“We stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.
“This cycle of violence has gone on for far too long, caused far too much suffering and claimed far too many innocent lives.
“With new peace talks under way, we desperately hope that they will finally see the hostages returned home to their families, a lasting bilateral ceasefire, Hamas out of power in Gaza for good." Ed Davey

The space sector helps drive our economy, our innovation, and our security, but the UK risks falling behind.

"As Sukkot begins this evening, I know last week's horrendous terrorist attack will be casting a shadow over what should be a time a celebration.

"The Conservatives made a total mess of protest laws and left us with the worst of all worlds – wasting police time arresting people for legitimate peaceful protest, while letting others get away with inciting violence. I fear Labour seem to be following them down the same path"

Police to get broader powers to crack down on repeated protests
The move is not a ban on protests but "about restrictions and conditions", Shabana Mahmood tells the BBC.

People spreading antisemitic hate and inciting violence against Jews are getting away with it.

We fear the government’s approach will do nothing to tackle that while undermining the fundamental right to peaceful protest.

Kemi Badenoch has chosen the side of Vladimir Putin and Nigel Farage with her plan to leave the European Convention on Human Rights.

The ECHR is a proud British creation, championed by Churchill, that protects everyone's rights and freedoms.
"Kemi Badenoch has chosen to back Nigel Farage and join Vladimir Putin by leaving the European Convention on Human Rights – a proud British creation championed by Churchill that protects everyone's rights and freedoms.
"This will do nothing to stop the boats or fix our broken immigration system – problems caused by the last Conservative Government that Badenoch still hasn't apologised for.
"I say to former One Nation Conservatives who have been abandoned by their party’s lurch to the extremes: you have a home with us. The Liberal Democrats will always fight to defend our fundamental British freedoms and the rule of law."

"On this painful morning, my thoughts are with the families of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz and the whole Jewish community who have been the target of a vicious attack on their holiest day."

"Those who preach antisemitic hatred must be stopped. It is never acceptable."

On this painful morning, my thoughts are with the families of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz – the two men tragically killed outside their synagogue yesterday – and with the whole Jewish community who have been the target of a vicious attack on their holiest day.
Antisemitism, terrorism and hatred can be defeated. But only if we all stand united against them. This attack didn’t happen in a vacuum. Antisemitism is rife on Britain’s streets. British Jews have been living in fear, especially since Hamas’s horrific terror attacks of October 7th.
That must end now. We all must come together to make sure our Jewish friends and neighbours feel safe walking on their streets and worshipping at their synagogues.
Those who preach antisemitic hatred, those who incite violence against Jews – whether online, on marches or anywhere else – must be stopped. It is never acceptable.
I know that, together, we can make sure that our British values of decency, tolerance and respect will prevail.
