That’s a strong letter. The government is winning the narrative on this.

One more point: it might be orthodox but I challenge anyone to defend a better strategy. More deficit stimulus? = higher int rates. More austerity? Fiscal tightening = slower growth. It’s a boring orthodox and vital formula.

Blairite cos it is pro power of business to grow wealth, but not leave it all to markets. And not redistributive.

It’s really Clintonesque: get interest rates down to boost growth and gov spend. To reduce inflation and interest , eliminate deficits. You can’t raise tax so non fiscal pro growth policies - trade deals, skills, capital for infrastructure, remove planning rules, support r&d science and innovation.

The nomination of someone who centrists could not support was unreasonable and provocative. Shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s not enough to say he had a cv. That cv was deeply divisive.

The real start of polarisation was the end of earmarks.

Problem was not the timing. It’s the use of an abstract colour coded warning. No one knows what they mean. Red - should I put on sunscreen? ‘Flood warning’ and dangerous’ Re better. Misguided to blame metereology for uncertainty. Coronial legal process is poor at platforming unmerited accusation.
