Me reaping: Heck yeah! I’m an early adopter on this platform that’s going to blow up soon! I get to make my username my first name! Haha finally!

Me sowing: Oh no. Ohh god. Well this sucks. What have I done?

Because Tshirt-shirt, doesn’t really roll off the tongue

Super interesting.

I always thought the ‘T’ stood for Tshirt.

You got it!

After all the joy I’ve gotten from McMansion Hell, a solid lox rec is almost literally the least I can do in return.

JB’s deli in Andersonville has machine-cut and hand-cut lox and when you get the hand-cut they do it nice and thin.

These types might tend to sort into product management, because the role comes with accountability.

It’s easy to assume that accountability confers authority and that other people have to do what they say simply because they have the title “PM.”

At the risk of overgeneralizing, one could say that PMs who do this would be bad at work, since effective communication is part of almost every job.
June 19, 2025 at 1:53 PM
PMs who do this are simply not good at product management.

“Just do what I say” is a failure mode of communication and communication is a core part of the job.

The (not so) secret
For years, I’ve been fascinated by this phenomenon. I keep noticing that people have a tendency to create something in their life simply through the act of thinking about it. I have yet to find a name...

It’s like “psychological hacking.”

Hackers manipulate a computer into doing something it’s not supposed to do by taking advantage of assumptions it makes about reality.

LLMs manipulate us (we manipulate ourselves?) by taking advantage of assumptions we make about the purpose of conversations
June 13, 2025 at 2:21 PM
It’s a “best of both worlds” scenario from the perspective of our basic psychological needs (which incidentally is also the worst of both worlds).

My entire worldview never gets challenged + I never feel alone.

It’s like the natural conclusion of “you can find anything to validate your opinion on the internet”

Now there doesn’t even need to be someone out there who agrees with your perspective. You can just manufacture a “someone” out of an LLM that will keep you company in your personal epistemic bubble
June 13, 2025 at 2:21 PM
But when we “converse” with an LLM, there is no other point of reference (or is it all points?).

The LLM subtly mirrors our own POV, so we wind up with the illusion of being grounded (Someone agrees with me!), but we’re actually floating off in space in a full sealed perspective spacesuit.
