Literally multiple Republicans in Congress have retired over the past year, and likely more will. They do in fact care about criticism. Your unwillingness to hold their feet to the fire is the exact kind of defeatism that enables them.

It’s interesting how you always bring it back to Democrats. You don’t seem comfortable with any criticism of Republicans - they always have to be shielded by deflection to Democrats. Can you acknowledge that sometimes it is just the Republicans in the wrong, not the Democrats?

I agree with you that the democrats shouldn’t have waited, but there’s no world in which McConnell would have decided not to adjourn the senate. The Dems knew that too - he was the ultimate barrier to impeachment.

The house did vote to impeach, and then McConnell adjourned the Senate. Dems didn’t drop the ball there, that was fully on the Republicans
