I would like to hear Fanlund's case against moving MMSD under mayoral control. I also think having a "West Side" party/alder and a "Madison Bikes Mafia" party/alder would be funny. I think 5 pro-housing seats are probably a given if we moved to at-large elections.
Tomorrow morning: It Takes Two to Tango, my greater than 250 word count response to Paul Fanlund's "appeal to Madison's 'uniparty'".

Madison's "uniparty" doesn't exist and when you don't have the political control you desire, it's easy to complain but more interesting to try and compromise

The OpenAVMKit convinced me to post a draft I've delayed. Kinda crazy you can sit on 87,500 sq ft of prime real estate for $17k a year. If you could buy parcels outright at 5x the assessed value, I don't think MATC at 33 E Johnson Street would be on the market for more than a day
Madison could benefit a lot from a land value tax. The abandoned MATC building downtown has an annual property tax rate of $17,000 and is valued at $1,000,000. The similarly sized 1 S Pinckney on the Capitol Square generates $1,200,000 in taxes and is a 2 minute walk away.
