Really liked THE CURRENTS, a lush & hypnotic Argentinian drama about a designer who unravels very stoically after a work trip gone awry. TIFF and NYFF slots should give writer-director Milagros Mumenthaler a much-deserved bump in recognition.

My review:
‘The Currents’ Review: A Woman Who Has Everything Comes Undone in a Lusciously Crafted Argentinian Spellbinder
Writer-director Milagros Mumenthaler's film revolves around a successful young Buenos Aires fashion designer whose world is upended after a work trip gone awry.

TWINLESS deserves so much better than whatever dog-days dump release it's getting. Dylan O'Brien gives one of the year's best, most surprising performances, & the film is twisted, funny & perceptive, w/shades of Almodovar. Super promising for writer/director/costar James Sweeney.

It's eight years since Kathryn Bigelow's last film & she hasn't missed a beat. A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE is a crackling thriller, precision-tooled, viscerally immersive, very much of a piece with THE HURT LOCKER and ZERO DARK THIRTY. Great stuff. #Venezia2025

‘A House of Dynamite’ Review: Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson in Kathryn Bigelow’s Precision-Tooled, Viscerally Unsettling Nail-Biter
The Netflix thriller captures from multiple perspectives the White House response to an unattributed missile launch headed for a major U.S. city in the harrowing 20 minutes until projected impact.

Jonathan Millet's GHOST TRAIL — a riveting thriller about Syrian refugees in France — is out today. Don't miss it. Adam Bessa has the soulful magnetism of a real star, and Tawfeek Barhom gives a chilling supporting turn. My review from last year's Cannes.
