Were Russia to kidnap and torture British citizens, would that simply be "a matter for the Russian government", in the view of Starmer's office?

I grieve over the designation of any practical effort to stop the slaughter in Gaza as “terrorism”.

I grieve over the condemnation by politicians and the media of my grief as “antisemitism”.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has carefully weighed the balance needed between protecting the ancient right to protest and limiting the ancient right to protest.

And she's decided instead to scrap the ancient right to protest.

Britain the police state is officially here.

BREAKING: Heroic police officers save public from this terrifying terrorist who was holding a sign the government doesn’t like x

The BBC and Home Secretary conveniently ignoring *why* anti-genocide protesters were out on the streets the same day as the Manchester attack:

Because Israel had just abducted hundreds of activists, including Britons, trying to break its illegal starvation-siege of Gaza.

Yes, the Home Secretary really did just say we need to hold off protesting against the British government's continuing complicity in Israel's daily slaughter in Gaza out of respect for Jews grieving over the Manchester synagogue attack.
jonathan-cook.bsky.social
That – very obviously – is not what this post is saying.

Do I really need to spell it out?

Shock and horror as two killed by attacker at Manchester synagogue.

Continuing indifference at the arrest of 1,700 people on terrorism charges for peacefully opposing British participation in a two-year genocide that's killed and maimed more than 100,000 children in Gaza.

"Arrested", Guardian? Stop pretending that Israel has any kind of legal right to abduct peace activists – either in international waters or in Gaza's waters.

This was yet another act of piracy by Israel.

The media aren’t reporting the news. They are shaping the news to shape our minds, our perceptions, our sympathies. Until we grasp that simple fact, we will continue cheering those whose only goal is to keep oppressing us.

There's a good reason we think of politicians as scumbags.

Here's Italy's Giorgia Meloni calling on the flotilla to abandon its mission to break Israel's genocidal starvation-blockade of Gaza – because it might "disrupt" Trump's pretend "peace plan". english.almayadeen.net/news/politic...
Italy’s Meloni urges Gaza humanitarian flotilla to halt mission
Italian PM Giorgia Meloni called on the Gaza aid flotilla to stop, warning that challenging the Israeli naval blockade risks derailing Trump’s peace plan.

Guardian hyperventilating on its front page about four killed in Ukraine yesterday by Russian bombs.

Buried deep in the paper's international news section is a report that at least 77 Palestinians were killed by Israel in Gaza in the same period.
jonathan-cook.bsky.social
The BBC has spent two years silencing those who try to name Israel's mass slaughter in Gaza a genocide.

But all it takes is four dead in Ukraine and the BBC gives Kyiv's mayor a platform to call the Russian attacks a genocide.
jonathan-cook.bsky.social
It has long been clear that the genocide-supporting, free speech-suppressing, international law-flouting US is no place for the United Nations to be located.

Time to move it elsewhere.

The grudging recognition of Palestinian statehood by Britain, France, Australia, Canada this week is a con – it is the same switch and bait that has been blocking the creation of a Palestinian state for three decades now.

Recognition of Palestine is a repeat of the West’s Oslo 'peace' fraud
Britain’s Keir Starmer is already pulling the rug from under his own grudging declaration. The only hope of change is of the unintended consequences variety

Tony Blair, the war criminal who oversaw the destruction of Iraq two decades ago, is in talks with the Americans to be the "governor" of Gaza's ruins after the Israeli genocide is complete.

Tony Blair had Peter Mandelson. Boris Johnson had Dominic Cummings.

The power behind Starmer's throne, Morgan McSweeney, may have even bigger skeletons in the closet than his predecessors, as Peter Oborne explains: www.middleeasteye.net/opinion/mcsw...
