I’ve said this before. I must say it again. I don’t respect people who are Trump supporters. I do not wish to associate with them. Increasingly, I do not wish to associate with people who are unwilling to fight against Trump. Donald Trump is evil. Excusing him in any way is ignorance and cowardice.

I just learned, thanks to an essay in E. B. White’s One Man’s Meat, that I can call the environmental allergies I suffer “catarrh,” which feels a bit onomatopoetic. According to White, catarrh may have kept Daniel Webster from running for president. My frequent drippy nose does feel unpresidential.

The amount of traffic on Twitter today from MAGA voices begging for votes in TN 07 is incredible. Aftyn Behn really can win. I’m voting for her tomorrow for affordable groceries, housing, and healthcare. I hope you will too.

Until news organizations are willing to risk access (and maybe hurt feelings) by having their reporters tenaciously challenging those in power when the need arises, we will not have a reliable 4th estate check on political leaders, corporate leaders, religious leaders, etc.
Who trains today’s journalists? Far too many don’t have the faintest idea how to hold people in power accountable. Far too few know how to follow up when given a ridiculous or evasive answer. And everyone is in it for their own soundbite. No loyalty to their peers or their profession.
It is journalistic malpractice not to:

1. Ask Trump to explain how the price of something can be brought down by 700%.

2. Ask him why he says Ukraine started the war with Russia when Russia obviously attacked Ukraine.

3. Defend any reporter Trump insults pressing him to respond to their question.

And an impressive job by researchers tracking this whale.
A male humpback whale set a record by swimming more than 8,000 miles from South America to Africa and traversing at least three oceans — most likely in search of a mate, researchers said.

Going after the healthcare of those protected under DACA is nothing but a ruthless way to force immigrants who came here as children to leave for countries many have never known. We can address the tragedy at our border without resorting to cruelty.
A North Dakota federal judge temporarily blocks so-called "dreamers" from accessing health insurance under the Affordable Care Act in legal challenge brought by 19 state attorneys general, including Tennessee AG Jonathan Skrmetti.

An important read, especially in light of the UnitedHealthcare tragedy and the Anthem push to limit anesthesia in the Northeast.
When Jerry Qualls had a heart attack in 2022, physicians at a Ballad Health facility said he couldn't be expected to recover. At a non-Ballad hospital, he received a heart transplant. Brett Kelman with @kffhealthnews.bsky.social reports on Ballad Health, a state-sanctioned hospital monopoly.
