Same here! When we talked about Tibetan Buddhism in class, I instantly thought of Avatar too. Weirdly, I always thought of his tattoos as Buddhist but not the temples... It’s cool seeing real-life Buddhist ideas show up in something I grew up watching. #DrSethBuddhClass

I thought it was interesting how Drukpa Kunley challenged social norms to teach deeper truths. But the way he used magic to prove his points made me question if people followed him for wisdom or just the shock value. It kind of made his message harder to take seriously. #DrSethBuddhClass

As a Christian, I still really respect the Buddha’s teachings, especially about compassion and peace. It’s interesting to see how both faiths value helping others. But the path to enlightenment seems really hard, especially giving up family and everyday life like monks do. #DrSethBuddhClass

I thought it was really cool learning how Buddhism and Christianity have some similar values, like compassion and helping others. Since I grew up around Christian stuff, it made Buddhism easier to understand and more familiar than I expected. #DrSethBuddhClass

Eastern Buddhism was huge in shaping Buddhist culture. Taoism influenced Zen’s focus on nature, while Confucianism shaped monastic discipline and social roles. So yeah, Chinese philosophy definitely blended with Indian roots to form a unique cultural mix. #DrSethBuddhClass

I use a stretching app every day, and it feels like a form of meditation for me. Zen Buddhism focuses on mindfulness and being present, and when I stretch, I feel calm and focused. It’s not exactly traditional meditation, but it helps me feel grounded.

I thought that Buddhist monks don’t farm. They just rely on food donations. They can eat meat if it wasn’t killed just for them. But with plants, there’s no issue if it was grown for them since no beings were harmed. Maybe they just shouldn’t ask for special food.

Yeah I would say for Christians too we have had a bad past when it came to quoting the bible and doing bad things. Like the witch hunts.

Jains believe every living thing has a soul that’s eternal and moves through rebirths. Buddhists believe in rebirth too, but say there’s no permanent soul just changing processes. So both believe in rebirth, but only Jains believe all beings have actual souls. If that helps a little.

I associated zen buddhism with meditation to achieve enlightenment or clarity. So I assumed it brought in different forms to have meditation. Google said that zen buddhism was brought in the 6th centry while something like rock gardens were introduced from 8 - 12 cent. I could be wrong though.
