Did you hear that K-Pod was seen in Monterey, California earlier this month? Well, they booked it back north, because this morning they were seen going north through Active Pass! 🤯

Ks averaged about 90 miles a day to make it from California back to the Salish Sea in just 11 days.

Nothing like a show deadline to light a fire under your 🍑! It’s funny how much it changes the dynamics of the studio, of the work. I don’t have time to overthink things. I’m in my body more and not so in my head. It feels good and I think it shows in the work I’m making.

They took away his ‘divine’ voice and his memory for playing his kithara. The sculpture represents the singer as a self-emitting and self-swallowing voice (a modified taxi horn) mounted on a multi-stringed instrument (an egg-beater). A brake disk at the center of the taxi horn refers to the traveling singer being permanently stopped at Dorion by the angry Muses. The arrow emerging from the rear of the horn alludes to the connection established in the Catalogue of Ships between Thamyris and Eurytos, who was killed by Apollo for claiming that he would beat the god in an archery contest. The egg-beater refers to the ancient Greek singer Timotheus who was censured by the Spartans for having too many strings (eleven instead of seven) on his kithara.

I had someone a few weeks ago, to my face, tell me that my old work was art, and heavily implying that my new work wasn’t. It didn’t hurt me, but definitely was a bit annoying to hear. The thing is though, it reminded me that if I don’t believe in this work, if I don’t defend it, no one else will.

Sometimes it gives me peace to remember all the great art that emerged during times of struggle. Even during the so-called dark ages incredible painting and writing thrived, including many of the fairytales we still tell today. Art is helpful solace.
