They had a most excellent editorial voice, as demonstrated by this "what's new" entry from December 10th 2020 about the height of Mount Everest simonw.github.io/cia-world-fa...

All flights cancelled for the evening. That’s 1100 total for the day.

Yes. Meanwhile the rest of the state — from mountains to coast — already has anywhere from 6-18” but the Triangle will be lucky to get 1-3”

That’s 99% of flights at the world’s sixth busiest airport. It’s gonna take a week to untangle that mess. So glad I made it through CLT yesterday!

I’m only a fan of Drake Maye bc he played at UNC. They sent us Belichick and we sent them Maye. Bad deal.

Welcome to the party, pal. iOS finally has a normal number after being off for a week. A few hours ago, it was still calling for 8 inches of snow.

You can use apple for temperature and for day of weather but anything beyond that involving precip is unreliable. There’s no easier answer about which app. There might not be one. I just follow my local meta and go to local tv websites or you can follow local weather ppl on IG or TikTok

Great to see this but instead of explaining how they get these numbers I’d like to hear about WHY Apple thinks it’s a good thing. It’s silly to be releasing raw model info and not — at the very least — explaining it’s just a model and not a forecast. bsky.app/profile/bart...
NY Times just posted a story about this so hopefully more people are starting to realize

Ugh I was hoping to write the definitive takedown someday but glad it’s getting out

By Sunday, iOS will finally have the correct number but the damage will be done for much of the public who rely on this app, even though no one should. Always follow your local meteorologists and local NWS office.
