It's a corollary to the rule that actual smart people never tell you how smart they are. Having to assert "I am smart" is almost always because your behavior is anything but intelligent.

I mute people who seem even a bit sus. Inevitably, I later see an exchange between someone I do follow and <muted>. I then unmute, read the exchange, and almost always replace the mute with a block.
