Covering #MNUFC for the Minnesota Star Tribune (but contractually obligated to not indicate nor imply that I'm an employee, or staff member, at same). Can't shut up about Minnesota sports, but still always Minnesota nice. Also still a crackpot.

Just a note: best as I can tell, Romero is the first #MNUFC player ever to be named to this yearly list.

#MNUFC defender Nicolás Romero is #19 on the league's official "22 under 22" list.

This is also a reminder that Romero, who turns 22 on November 28, is - despite his assured presence on the field - still just 21 years old.

Is Brad Frost even awake at this point

No, no. We love our children even when they make what is objectively the wrong choice.

Also I dunno what Dinkytown Athletes is doing right now but clearly they need to focus up

lock the doors until the team decides to start winning again?

Fewer #MNUFC international call-ups than usual, with Carlos Harvey injured. Dayne St. Clair, Michael Boxall, Robin Lod, and Joseph Rosales have all headed out for international duty.

🇫🇮, 🇭🇳: WC qualifiers

Loons are taking a break, off until Fri.

Not so much a plug as a trial balloon as I try to work out my own feelings…

As in “which day of the week,” or the general schedule?

More from #MNUFC over the weekend, as the international break starts:

* Loons go classic 4-4-2
* How Mamadou Dieng needs to improve to fit in: be more like Tani Oluwaseyi
Analysis: Minnesota United adjusting to playing without traditional strikers
Injuries and transfers have posed an interesting challenge for Loons manager Eric Ramsay as the MLS playoffs approach.

I mean TECHNICALLY 2019, with 13 home wins, has 2025 (11) beat, for the moment, but also someone's probably going to yell at me for splitting hairs like this

greatest art of 2025 imho

Update: "Titanium" has now been stuck in my head for more than 36 hours and I am going insane

It's the final, full-slate Sunday column of the year! Thank you as always for reading.

By the time Decision Day rolls around, #MNUFC could be down to "well, if the Loons win and San Diego loses, Minnesota will clinch third place in the West"

Okay let me see if I have this right: OpenAI is running commercials featuring questions that you used to be able to answer via a simple web search, only now this doesn’t work because the web search results are now filled with useless OpenAI slop?

the funniest thing about this ongoing bit was that when I saw the final score, I actually felt some relief of the "well now I'm not going to get yelled at on the series of tubes today" type

Nope, team option. Wouldn’t be a free agent anyway since he’s short of four years service time.

Random stat of the night: tonight's 3-0 win for the Loons was the first time since July 2024 that #MNUFC won a match AND had 50% possession or better

Not this year. And in MLS history, only Brek Shea ever scored more as a defender (11 in 2011)

Manager Eric Ramsay said that Anthony Markanich was adamant about continuing after the leg injury that forced him off in the second half, but the coaching staff decided it wasn't necessary to risk it.

Markanich said he was fine, after the game... and he's got two weeks to rest up, too.

Anthony Markanich, on his teammates' response to his tongue-wagging goal celebration: "Oh, they hate it. Everyone hates the tongue out. I don't know what to do, though."

By the way, the Houston-San Diego game has gone Full Chaos; San Diego has scored twice and Houston once in the last five minutes of the match, it's 3-2 San Diego, and at the moment #MNUFC still trails #SDFC by two points at the top of the West

FINAL: #MNUFC 3, Sporting KC 0.

A comfortable win against a struggling team, and a positive note for the Loons to close out their home schedule.
