I was always fascinated by the sister-phenomenon of how social lives are portrayed - how the Office style of workfriends being the only friends mirrors the dynamics of a writers room and only a writers room.

In the very general sense it can only reliably be for yourself, imo - a practice.

Which is of course easy for me to say not having a press to run.

But we see this w/ "we all watched Star Wars and this was your takeaway?!" discourse - commerce obscures that the power of art can only be personal.

Rejections roll off my back but *only* if I'm actively writing something else, I've noticed - it allows me to go "oh you didn't like that old thing?" and keep it moving.

Breaks are where I wallow.

Over the past few years this has become my entire "thing," being basically a sheepdog for artists (ie badgering them to hang out).

The energy lasts much longer than we might expect.
