What I lost with Pocket, I've found with @instapaper.com! I updated my Kobo last night to happily discover they've added support for Instapaper! In all honesty, using Instapaper has been a breath of fresh air. The first app in forever that I have really enjoyed discovering and using! 📚📜😍

Made it an entire year without having a single sick day. This isn’t meant as a brag for working through being sick. More as a success of not catching anything for a year!

Design Tokens are peak over engineering. To me, they just seem like an over-thought process. A method of gatekeeping knowledge and make the process of developing, that single website you look after, more difficult. It’s a weird trend and I’m not buying it. ✌️

@michaelphuber.bsky.social if we’re talking Lost quotes, harkening back to a recent @easyallies.bsky.social podcast, surely the top spot should be for “WE HAVE TO GO BACK!”

When did The Guardian start using guilt and dark patterns on their website? 10 years ago they were regularly held up as exemplars of web dev + story telling. Now they're just as bad as any other news outlet.

“Rack ‘em up!” Made the pilgrimage to Northleach to see some of the locations from This Country. Pictured, “The Keepers Arms” where Kurtain went pint-to-pint with Martin Mucklowe. Really nice pub!

In total I saved 12,296 over 13 years on Pocket. I wonder if that would have made me a power user? #RIPPocket

Thanks for all the saves @nateweiner.bsky.social and @mozilla.org. It was a great run, and I'm sad to say goodbye.

The first article I saved with Pocket: 12/08/2012 web.archive.org/web/20120707... (via @waybackmachine.bsky.social) A reference to a document on Internet Explorer layouts. Also something consigned to the past. According to my data I never read it. I can now update that read status.

When designing the UX, make the sale experience as frictionless as possible. With the ticket in hand, let the user enjoy and appreciate their purchase.

It’s bank holiday Monday, I’m picking a project from my post-its to work on…

Last night I received an email to say Pocket is shutting down. This morning I receive an email to say Glitch is shutting down.

Two pieces of tech I use most days gone in 24 hours. Hard not to take it personally!

Spent the entire work day+ fixing Gitlab runners. Not sure what went wrong. At least I'll know in future how to fix!
