Hot takes are always unreliable, but I suspect Xi Jinping is pleased by Trump’s intervention in Venezuela. Another costly distraction for the US, won’t affect flow of drugs much, sets a nice precedent for his Taiwan ambitions, and makes US look like a rogue state. Win-win for Beijing.
